Let’s start at the very beginning—a very good place to start, according to the Sound of Music.
We’ve been looking for a house for a long time. A LONG time. We fell in love with a house, offered on it 3 separate times, and it finally fell through, taking with it almost a year of our life (not to mention all our hopes and dreams. We loved this house. We may have been SLIGHTLY too emotionally attached to it, but that’s for another post. Suffice to say, we were depressed).
Then, out of the blue, a house pops on the market. It’s beautiful. REALLY beautiful. It’s in our price range. It’s in our preferred neighborhood. It has my dream kitchen. We immediately scheduled an appointment to see it. My heart was on pins and needles. I kept waiting for the catch—the fatal flaw that was going to make this house an impossibility for us, just like the other 75 houses we’d seen.
But it never came. We offered on the house and within 2 or 3 days we had an accepted contract. I was still on pins and needles, though, waiting for the home inspection. I expected an expensive fix to be necessary, and we couldn’t afford any expensive fixes.
But it never came. Things have been progressing smoothly, and if nothing goes wrong, we should be in the house by March 23rd!
So, without further adeiu, say hello to our Park Place abode:
